Frequently Asked Questions
Can women join the fire department?
ABSOLUTELY! We currently have three ladies on our roster who are doing a fantastic job.
Do I have to take classes to join the department?
Technically No, however State Law requires that a volunteer be certified at a minimum to the Fire Fighter I level within 2 years of hire as a volunteer. The state certification test can be challenged however our department discourages this practice. New firefighters will still need to take the Hazardous Materials course and driver training course.
I work shift work or swing shifts, can I still be a member?
Yes, we do work around those schedules to help you complete your requirements. Shift work or swing shift individuals are very beneficial too as they have day where they are available for calls during the daytime work day.
